WILL is a network aimed at women lawyers of all pre-partnership experience, both in private practice and in-house. The name WILL encapsulates the progressive, positive aims of the network. The primary aim is to be a relaxed, vibrant and inspiring forum for women across all practice areas to:
– Build their own networks with contemporaries
– Be introduced to potential mentors and/or sponsors
– Reach out for support if needed
– Become engaged in the issues facing women leaders in law, as well as more generally
cultivate their professional development
– Create personal and professional opportunities
– Build confidence in ability to attain career goals
– Create influence
WILL organises quarterly events for its members, including keynote speakers discussing topical issues, planned annual panel discussions on issues facing women in the law, and networking opportunities. There is currently no charge to join – individuals should simply sign up through the Contact page to be added to our mailing list.
Despite its focus on more junior women, WILL is encouraging more senior women to sign up as ‘WILL Champions’ and attend its events, so that its members can network upwards, to benefit from the experience and advice of those who have taken this path before them. Many women lawyers do not have the benefit of women role models at the upper levels of their careers, or formal/informal mentoring and sponsorship by other women. WILL aims to encourage and facilitate these relationships at a cross-firm, cross-company and ultimately cross-industry level.
